[So he knocks on the door to the apartment Mozart and Naegi share, and calls out:]
I'm here.
[That's what Yu's doing. He's on the end of a row, so he begins looking around at all the other people assembled there... eventually, his eyes fall on the kid next to him.]
[Do you know what's going on? Because he certainly doesn't.]
[For one thing, there was the giant preacher throwing coffins at them. Then there was the creepy-cute giant cupids riding on other babies with horse heads. And so on and so forth. Answering the questions was actually not too bad; Yu put thought into them, of course he did, but once he made a decision he was fine with stating his answer. It seemed as though there was always at least one person who agreed with him, though that was doubtless because of the sheer size of the group. (He thinks he’s gotten all of the SEES members’ names down by now…) Finally, and most strangely, there was the whole matter of the… wedding… ceremony.]
[That was really weird.]
[He kept his cool throughout, because of course he did. But looking back on it now? Very weird.]
[Yu knows that Yosuke will be acting skittish about it, but it’s been a few hours since they cleared the dungeon, and he’s intentionally been letting the dude have some privacy to sort out a few of his most pressing hangups. But as dinnertime approaches, he sees Yosuke chilling out at one of the tables, and decides that now is as good a time as any to bother him.]
Hey.
[The apprentices had spent a long, long time researching the inner workings of Darkness and its effect on people and things in the Realm of Light. After regaining their hearts, it was agreed that they would continue the research -- with a much keener eye to the effects of Darkness on the unprotected mind. Mistakes were inevitable, they knew, a part of the cycle of discovery. This particular mistake just happened to have very far-reaching consequences. But humanity has survived this long due to a knack for studying their mistakes and adjusting future behaviours accordingly.]
[Eventually, they realized that they were pointedly avoiding the source of the problem, which was the mass of Darkness in the worlds on the other side of the In-Between. Several test runs have been conducted thus far, though Ienzo never went on any of them; he usually monitored Aeleus or Dilan to the best of his ability from the Realm of Light. Thanks to them, relatively stable transport between Realms had been achieved. And it was then, only then, that Aeleus permitted Ienzo to enter the Realm of Darkness. In some ways, it was aggravating, as though he was still seen as 'lesser' than the rest -- he couldn't go ahead until the area was completely safe, since no one thought he could blaze the trail. ...But as much as that stung, Ienzo realized now that Aeleus was only doing it out of concern for him. Not his perceived lack of ability.]
[This world was strange indeed. At one point, the locale might have been a forest or even a jungle; now, dead branches had been twisted and warped in ways beyond comprehension. There was nothing on this planet that still lived, save perhaps for the Darkness itself. And Ienzo.]
[...And someone else, a truth which he pointedly refused to dwell on too long.]

HOW IT WORKS:
- Each comment thread is the text/email/whatever inbox of one of my characters.
- Leave 'em a message! Make them feel like they're living in Grand Central Station!
- TFLN, misfires, buttdials, or maybe your character just needed to contact mine immediately for some reason. It's all good.
- Seriously. Keep texting them.
- Forever.
- Do not let them sleep.
[But, well, when do things ever go according to plan?]
[Either way, he's here. He's hungry. He's considering yelling at the dead-eyed teenager behind the counter, demanding that he come take their order. But... that's a lot of effort. So he just leans his head back against the booth, and stares directly into the harsh ceiling lights.]

It doesn’t especially matter where you live, because the caravan comes regardless. No matter how out of place it looks among the surroundings, there is no doubt in your mind that it is there. It is a wheeled shelter painted black and decorated with ornate swirls; there is no visible sign of tire tracks, nor the prints of an animal or human, to indicate how it got there. One night you went to bed, and that location was empty; now you have awoken, and the caravan sits in the middle of your cornfield. Or on top of an abandoned office building. Or inside a shrine. The faint smell of incense drifts out the window. Sometimes the rich fabric curtains are blown aside in the proper wind, and you can get a glimpse of the inside; it seems to be full of more highly decorated items, including a sofa, table, stove and mattress. It’s clear that someone lives here.
But who?
You walk around the front of the door. A hand-painted sign announces the caravan’s “opening times” in whatever unit of temporal measurement your world employs. “Prices are variable.” However, this sign neglects to mention what exactly the caravan is open for. Perhaps it can be entered now, or perhaps you must come back in a few hours. One way another, it’s very strange, and you get the distinct feeling that it might not be here for much longer.
Maybe you ought to knock.

Responses might come slowly, as I’m not always in a place where I can bust out a deck of tarot cards or research their meanings. As for whether they’re accurate or not… well, who knows? I have been told that I'm pretty accurate, though. ))
